Weather Ireland: Met Éireann forecasts temperatures to hit 20C on Bank Holiday Monday

Bank Holiday Monday will be a mainly dry but cloudy day as more rain is expected this week, Met Éireann has said.

Today will see the south soaking up the best sunshine while the north might see a patchy drizzle.

Temperatures will range between 14 to 20 degrees.

Tonight will remain dry with patchy rain in the northwest of the country, which will turn more persistent later at night and move southwards by Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will be 10 to 12 degrees with light to moderate winds. Stronger winds are expected along Atlantic coasts bringing more persistent rain.

Rain is expected to start tomorrow as it will later clear to a mix of sunshine and showers by Tuesday afternoon.

Temperatures will be 13 to 17 degrees but might feel a bit cooler due to winds ranging from moderate to fresh and gusty in the afternoon.

It will be dry and clear for much of the country on Tuesday night, while the northern and western areas will see cloudier conditions with scattered showers. Temperatures are set to drop to 5 and 7 degrees.

A much cooler day is expected on Wednesday bringing a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, which will become most frequent in the north. Temperatures will range between 11 and 15 degrees.

Wednesday night will be mostly dry with clear spells and isolated showers on the northern and western coasts. Temperatures will drop to 5 and 7 degrees.

Thursday will see a mix of sunny spells and showers, which will be most frequent on the northern and western coasts, with temperatures ranging between 12 and 15 degrees.

There will be a little change for next weekend with temperatures remaining around normal for the time of the year with some sunshine at times and winds, Met Éireann has said.
