League of Ireland: It’s Dublin Derby night as Bohemians host Shamrock Rovers

The May Bank Holiday weekend is upon, which means League of Ireland fans will be treated to another double-header with a full round of matches slated for tonight and Monday.

In the Premier Division, the Dublin derby between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers takes top billing as the four-in-a-row champions seek to get one over on the Gypsies and, in turn, dislodge Shelbourne from the table’s summit.

Hoops boss Stephen Bradley is missing a raft of players through injury, while Bohs manager Alan Reynolds will expect improvements from his side at Dalymount Park following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Dundalk a week ago.

Having earned that win – their first in 2024 – new Dundalk manager Noel King and his coaching team featuring Brian Gartland and Liam Burns welcome league-leaders Shels to Oriel Park. King recently managed the Reds’ senior women’s team to two Women’s National League titles and the FAI Women’s Cup.

At Eamonn Deacy Park, third-placed Derry City will be hoping to make it back-to-back away victories when they take on Galway United, whose manager John Caulfield is once again serving a touching ban.

Elsewhere, St Pat’s are set for a spell without captain Joe Redmond as Drogheda United arrive in Inchicore, while Sligo Rovers and Waterford lock horns with just a point separating them.

And there will be history made in the First Division tonight as Munster rivals Kerry and Cork City meet at Mounthawk Park for the very first time in the League of Ireland.

Stick around for some build-up and essential pre-match reading. Then we’ll have live updates from the first to the final whistle and match reports later tonight.
