Pedestrian dies from injuries after being struck by car in Mayo | BreakingNews.ie



A man has died from his injuries in hospital after he was seriously injured in a traffic collision in Ballina, Co Mayo.

The 33-year-old and a girl were crossing on Lord Edward Street in Ballina when the incident occurred, with both of them brought to Mayo General Hospital, where the man passed away on Wednesday evening.

The local coroner has been informed, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.

The child who was injured has since been discharged from hospital.

Following the completion of examinations by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, the road, previously closed, has been reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. Those with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are urged to provide it to gardaí.
